BUILDING A BIG REPUTATION FOR A SMALL AGENCY

PROBLEM

Exverus was a 3-year-old independent media agency based in LA. Though they’d had pockets of success winning industry awards, they needed a strategic partner to develop a holistic plan to help them break through onto a bigger stage and compete with larger, more established agencies, ultimately growing their reputation and visibility as an innovative create media shop among clients, talent and industry influencers.

SOLUTION

Our program had three pillars: cultivating relationships with press for ongoing commentary and coverage opportunities; building the profiles of the agency’s founders through executive interviews and leadership pieces; and differentiating through stories on the agency’s work and culture. We strategically mapped press relationships to the founders and the business’s broader coverage goals, organizing meet-and-greets to lay the foundations for future coverage. We dug deep into the agency’s ongoing workings to uncover “hidden gems” - cases of extraordinary adaptability and client problem-solving that seemed commonplace to those inside the agency - and mined those for PR and case studies. And we put a rigorous focus on agency awards recognizing the agency’s overall growth story, driven by its people, clients, and culture.

RESULTS

  • 300% increase in press coverage in one year (average 2x coverage per month).

  • Named Ad Age Media Agency of the Year at 2020 Small Agency Awards.
